How to Find Books in a Library

  Find books in a Library Books are arranged/ classified according to Dewey Decimal Classification system is called Call number. The Call numbers consist three parts, first part represents the class number (subject Number) of the book, second part represents the Book number (author and title indicator) of the book and third part represents the year of publication. The first three letters of author's sir name and first letter of title are taken for the book number. Example:     510 SHAT Y2K21 means  Class Number:           510 Mathematics Book Number:          Sharma, Sanjay; Textbook of Mathematics Year of Publication: 2021 There are 10 main classes of Dewey Decimal Classification System: 000     Computer Science, Information & General Works 100     Philosophy & Psychology 200     Religion 300     Social Sciences 400     Language 500     Science 600     Technology 700     Art & Recreation 800     Literature 900     History & Geography

  Welcome to All Students I would like to welcome all students to Kanya Maha Vidyalaya Library and wish you a happy and successful new academic year. Library is a place where our community learns and grows in each and every aspect of life. Our library is student/ researcher friendly library. It is equipped with all relevant and best information resources, well qualified staff ready to give you all the support you need throughout the academic year. Library is fully automated. We have an online library, where you can access the e-resources. We have an institutional repository for archiving material (question papers, newspaper clippings, prospectus, annual reports, newsletters, college publication, journals, books etc.). Students will be given information sessions, which will provide information about use, library OPAC and searching techniques etc. The library is a growing all the time physically.   Library is housed in a three storey building and has wide collection of the latest books; DVD, periodicals, which is expanded and updated year to year. The Library has open access system, where users can find out their required reading material. The Library is also subscribing the e-resources for the researcher. The Library has also an institutional repository. IR contains syllabi, conference papers, question papers, thesis, college publications, newspaper clippings and archived books. Faculty/ students may contribute their own publications to institutional repository. The Heritage archive, which collects, preserves and maintains the historical evidence of the institution’s history. It contains photographs, rare journals, rare books and annual reports. All books are classified, catalogued, RF tags and bar-coded for better circulation and security.
